The Barwon region takes in the urban areas of Geelong as well as an expansive rural hinterland and includes coastal towns, bay and surf areas. The region has an ageing population which poses challenges for the planning of future services, but it is well serviced by disability and aged service providers.
The South West region has the City of Warrnambool as its comprehensive regional service centre. Each shire is unique in its own special way, with the stunning southern ocean coastline, the mountains of the Southern Grampians, rolling green pastures that support a thriving dairy industry and farming areas of the western district. Unlike the Barwon region, the population of the South West (with the exception of Warrnambool) has declined. The South West also has an ageing population posing challenges for the various shires in their future planning.
This website is the point of contact for carers of people with a disability or frail aged, providing information and support on where to find respite and other community services.
You can visit your shire’s website to find out more about the region where you live, but this may not necessarily include respite options. To find respite options use the Search for Services tab to locate services in your region.
Alternatively, phone Freecall 1800 052 222 for information, support and assistance with planning your respite.
